Do you know the biggest scientific discovery of mankind?
You might think…
Not even close.
The biggest scientific discovery of mankind is:
Now I say this because the more we realize how much we don’t know, the more we search for answers. Here’s the thing: if Einstein or Eddison thought they knew everything, they would have never searched for more answers. And they wouldn’t have made their breakthrough discoveries.
This reminds me of the story of the marine mechanic.
The story goes like this:
A giant ship engine had failed.
To fix the engine, the ship’s owners called on one expert after another. But none of them could fix the engine. Then one day, an old man arrived. A man who had been fixing ships since he was a very young boy. With him he brought a bag of tools.
He inspected the engine very carefully, from top to bottom.
The ship’s owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do.
After inspecting the engine, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer.
He gently tapped something — and instantly — the engine lurched into life.
The engine was fixed!
A week later, the owners’ received a bill from the old man… for ten thousand dollars.
“What?!” the owners exclaimed, “He hardly did anything!”
So they wrote the old man a note saying, “Please send us an itemized bill.”
And so, the man them a bill.
And it read:
“Tapping with the hammer $2.00
“Knowing where to tap $9,998.00”
I love sharing this story.
Why? Because the line-up of experts before the old man didn’t have the experience. As I heard once: experience is the thing that comes to you 5 min after you need it the most.
And I have noticed in my career that there are 2 types of people.
1. Those who have a learning mindset.
2. And those who don’t.
In other words, 10% of the people realize their ignorance and start a journey to become better. And so they invest in themselves, seek the advice from mentors, read, research or take courses, etc. Those are the people who can have 20 years experience after 10 years of work because they always accelerate their learning through accumulating more knowledge.
However, the remaining 90% stay ignorant.
Those who’ve been working 10 years but simply have 10 times 1 year of the same experience.
I’d like to ask YOU:
Which group would you like to be in?
1. Those who are good at making sales (because they keep improving and investing in themselves)
2. Those who excel at making excuses.
Because you can’t be both.
You are one or the other.
And if you’re making excuses… I hate to say it, but I you’re going to have a really hard time.
The good news is that you get to choose. At this very moment, you can choose which type of person you’re going to be. You can make excuses and remain ignorant. Or, you can invest in yourself and prosper.
If you wish to invest in yourself then, this Friday, I want to INVITE YOU to:
