This Declassified Top-Secret Mission Will Reveal How to be Successful in Boat Sales

October 9, 2018

Between the Cannes & Monaco boat show I went to the Philippines to visit our office there. I heard a cool story that I wanted to share with you that could help you a lot in boat sales.

In 1944, Lieutenant Hiroo Onoda went to the Philippine Island of Lubang with a top-secret mission.

His mission? Collect intelligence and bring destruction to the Allied forces.

So for a year and a half Hiroo and his team of 4 men blew up Allied airfields, engaged in numerous gunfights, eluded capture, and disrupted the enemy in every possible way.

Then, one day, in August 1945, a plane flew over the jungle dropping hundreds of pamphlets.

“The war is over. Come out and surrender.” the pamphlets read.

However, Hiroo believed that this was a ploy because Japan’s surrender was absurd.

Now, here’s where the story gets good:

Because Lt. Hiroo had strict orders to keep fighting until he heard from a superior officer, these pamphlets didn’t have any influence on him and he simply continued fighting the enemy — despite the fact that Japan had actually surrendered.

And so, for years after the end of World War II, Hiroo and his men hung out in the jungle launching guerrilla raids against the local people of Lubang.

They rigged transport ships with explosives and generally shot at anything that moved.

They waged guerilla war for years.

But in 1950, some 4 and 1/2 years after the end of war, one of Hiroo’s men got sick of sleeping in the jungle and eating nothing but rice, bananas and coconuts, so he surrendered.

As for Hiroo and the other 3 men, they continued strategizing plans of attack, collecting intel, eating more bananas and assaulting “enemy combatants”.

The final member of Hiro’s team was killed by local police in 1972— however, this didn’t stop Hiroo! He continued fighting.

Years passed.

Then, one day, a college student stumbled upon Hiroo’s hideout deep in the jungle.

The student told Hiroo that the war had long ended…

Hiroo refused to surrender until he received orders from a superior officer.

So, he continued the fight…

Meanwhile, the student who spoke with Hiroo returned to Japan, and, as crazy as this may sound, found Hiroo’s old commander working at a bookstore.

The Japanese government then sent the former commander to tell Hiroo that World War II had ended.

On the 10th of March, 1975, 29 years after the end of World War II, Lieutenant Hiroo Onoda came out of the jungle and surrendered.

The moral of the story? There are many…

But what’s most instructive to you (and me) as boat sales professionals is this:

If you want to be successful in marine sales you need discipline like Hiroo Onada.

And to develop the discipline you need the RIGHT training.

As Michael Jordan said:

“You can practice shooting 8 hours a day, but if your practice is wrong, then all you become is very good at shooting the wrong way.”

For this reason, my team and I at Yacht Sales Academy put together a Sales Masterclass that gives you the training, the practical insight, the guidance, and the motivation you need to become a highly paid boat and yacht sales professional.

Here’s a glimpse at what’s in the 6-week Sales Masterclass:

P.S. Eric Brummett, a yacht and boat broker at Bob Hodge Marine, and student at Yacht Sales Academy, had this to say about our training programs:

“I’m Slammed! Seriously, to a point where I’m needing the assistance of other people’s efforts to get done what I need to in the course of a day. Last year, I was selling less than a boat a month, to now, averaging 3 boats a month.”

P.P.S. Oh, and Gordon Bennett, fellow Yacht Broker at Annapolis Yacht Sales had this to say too:

“Closed my first $1,000,000+ yacht last week and I couldn’t have landed that deal without the skills I learned from Yacht Sales Academy. Thank you Vincent Finetti!”

Want similar results? If so, it’s just a matter of getting the right training. And you can take the same sales training Eric and Gordon took, too. And I’ve packaged it together in the Sales Masterclass.

Just leave a comment below that says: “TELL ME MORE” and I’ll follow up with you.
