Do You Have What it Takes to be a Top Boat Broker in 2019?

?Just ask yourself the following 10 questions and if you can truthfully answer “yes” to at least 9 of them, you may have what it takes to succeed as a broker in 2019 and I want to talk to you on the phone.

1️⃣ Is boating or yachting in your bloodstream?
If it’s in your “blood,” it will bring enthusiasm and passion to your work. In one of my favourite sales books: Selling With a Noble Purpose, author Lisa MacLeod shows that a noble purpose is the number one factor that differentiates top performer in sales.

2️⃣ Do you have good energy reserves?
If you want to be a successful broker, there is no time for small chat during coffee break or at the watercooler. Work ethic is the key. Be energetic, productive and always work hard to pursues your company’s mission.

3️⃣ Are you willing to put pleasure aside?
Most brokers don’t take the boating business SERIOUSLY enough to constantly improve. Instead of having a professional attitude they take a laid-back approach to boat sales because they believe they’re in the PLEASURE boating business. So, are you in the PLEASURE boating business or the BOAT SELLING business?

4️⃣ Do you have a proven record of success in a variety of activities?
Winning is a habit, unfortunately so is losing. So, what top performance or remarkable achievements have you had in the past? Quite frankly, if you didn’t develop the habit of winning in your previous life activities, you won’t suddenly develop the habit of winning. As a result, it will be hard to become a top achiever if you don’t have any prior success.

5️⃣ Are you tech savvy?
You may not be a computer nerd, but you’re comfortable using your smartphone to create content you can use to promote yourself and your boats. And so, you’re willing to get in-front of the camera even if it feels uncomfortable… because you rather be uncomfortable than be a broker “dinosaur” who refuses to use the tech tools required to sell more boats.

6️⃣ Do you have the guts to say, “I don’t know,” I’ll just have to call you back when I’ve got the facts?”
If you want to be successful you need to do is be honest with yourself and with your clients. You’ll must be coachable and willing to learn constantly (because the market is changing so fast you need to constantly adapt).

7️⃣ You regularly ask your clients: “Is there a question I should have asked you but didn’t ask yet?”
The number one rule for successful broker is to put your client’s interest ahead of your own. You need to understand what clients want by asking the right questions and genuinely listening.

8️⃣ Is your wife (or partner) telling you that you are attractive before going to work in the morning?
If you want to be a success, you must dress for success. Always be professionally attractive: presentable & well groomed.

9️⃣ Do you have more than 1000 friends or followers on Social Media?
If you want to be successful you need to become an authoritative figure. And one of the easiest ways for you to do so is to begin broadcasting yourself as an authority to your list of friends and clients.

? Do you believe that the key to success is working with a team?
The tools, resources, effort, and energy required to effectively and successfully sell yachts while meeting sellers’ expectations can no longer be sufficiently satisfied by an individual broker. The market has progressed, buyers are more educated and demanding, and sellers have higher expectations than ever before. And this is why you recognize you need a team.
